The Senior Systems Administrator will perform complex system design activities to configure systems and respond to system incidents effectively. In coordination with other team members, will design, implement and maintain the computing environment to support processing requirements in a cost-efficient manner while minimizing interruption to on-going processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Manage the day-to-day operations of the host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair

·         Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources

·         Ensure that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained to provide management team with statistics for SLA monitoring and compliance

·         Analyze system logs to identify potential issues with computer systems

·         Perform routine audits of systems and software; performing backups as required

·         Collect and review system data to assist in capacity and planning purposes

·         Implement new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability

·         Perform troubleshooting as required; lead problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel

·         Establish, maintain and assist in managing Microsoft, Linux, and virtual server systems

·         Install, modify and maintain systems and utility software on server hosts

·         Provide server support related to other application software

·         Implement procedures to maintain server security

·         Develop procedures, programs and documentation for support, maintenance, backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications

·         Document system maintenance and repair in appropriate systems

·         Manage, along with others, the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and associated support systems

·         Stay current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommend ways to take advantage of new technology

·         Support and adhere to company Change Management procedures

·         Perform technology needs analysis


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field such as Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or 6 years direct experience
  • Minimum 6 years of professional hands-on experience supporting application and server technologies in a heterogeneous environment containing Linux and Microsoft servers
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, virtual servers and security
  • Experience managing cloud servers in hosted data center
  • Knowledge of database (SQL Server) and web server technology
  • Familiar with monitoring and metrics tools
  • Provide on call support services during off hours
  • Scheduled night and weekend work is required
  • The ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Desired:

  • MCSE, MCSA and/or Linux Certifications

·         Experience with VOIP components and converged networks
