Job Summary

This position is responsible for creating a technology roadmap that supports CKE’s digital business strategy, defining and enforcing technology standards across the IT department and providing technology governance to IT projects.

Using knowledge of architecture and design solutions, the Digital Enterprise Architect will work with domain experts to ensure individual technology area visions for current and emerging technologies align with the overall long-term roadmap and technology vision. Defines new processes and aligns them appropriately with existing architecture and operations processes. Assesses, recommends and builds compelling business cases for emerging technologies and appropriate technical approaches for solutions. Reviews CKE’s technology landscape and identifies opportunities for cost savings.  The Solution Architect acts as a liaison between functional professionals and internal technology teams in planning, designing, and architecting IT solutions to meet customers’ requirements.



·       Reviews market trends within the retail space and recommends technology strategies to align with the business initiatives.  Develops and maintains the technology roadmaps that drive innovation within the organization.

·       Reviews technical designs to ensure that they are consistent with defined architecture principles, standards and best practices.  Accountable for the availability, stability, scalability, security, and recoverability enabled by the designs. Works with business partners to ensure design meets desired outcomes.

·       Defines and promotes processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.

·       Collaborates with both IT and business senior leadership to influence decisions controlling up to millions of dollars in annual technology and business investment

·       Governs the introduction of new technologies.  Reviews, aligns, and drives technology plans with enterprise goals, business plans and business processes.

·       Provide both high and low level design work to support a range of IT solutions, including Payment Processing, Digital Menu Boards, POS integration with 3rd party partners, kitchen-display-systems, menu management, online ordering, and others.

·       Ability to create solutions by addressing business issues by designing integrated IT solutions and IT managed services. This includes helping to develop tactical plans to go from the AS IS information technology environment to the TO BE IT infrastructure supporting these business plans.

·       Enable buy-in by using consultative skills to design and implement IT solutions. Serve as a “trusted advisor” providing analysis, guidance, and design of processes, people, and technology solutions for CKE teams.

·       Help to prepare needs assessments, proposed Scope of Work, and specific proposals to IT managed services solutions, including technical specifications, configurations, and agreements.

·       Conduct code reviews of proposed solutions to ensure source code meets design specifications

·       Code, when necessary, to support team objectives

·       Present proposals addressing strategic business development opportunities for IT projects, including hardware and software refresh, security assessments and monitoring projects.


Minimum Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

·       15+ years of Information Technology experience.

·       5+ years of experience in solution architecture for larger organizations.

  • Retail industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in at least one or more .NET (framework) languages.
  • Technical knowledge at the solutions level, including POS (front-of-house), back-of-house, IT infrastructure, Network infrastructure, Virtualization, Backup/Business Continuity, and Cloud-based Platforms (MS Azure or Amazon Web Services).

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of the consultative solutions process throughout the solution development life cycle (both Agile and Waterfall), from assessment, business analysis, solution design, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Strong communications and analytical skills; capable of building trust with business leaders and key stakeholders in the process of designing IT solutions which support business needs.
  • Effective relationship-building and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to review, and/or develop a high-level Scope of Work, proposed schedule and ability to participate in IT project status reviews and checkpoints.
  • Commitment to customer service and to resolving client satisfaction issues in a timely manner.

·       Commitment to continuous learning and re-skilling with appropriate training and professional development.
